decay

It’s as though I must beg everyday to see the light. The only time I see myself is through scattered pieces of a fractured mirror. How does a plant grow with no sunlight? Does it learn to accept the short few moments that it can see something other than shadows? How long will its growth be stunted until someone notices that something is wrong with it? How many brown leaves and wilted petals until they decide to move it into the sun? Why must the plant plead for something it needs to exist, praying that someone will lift it by its rotting roots and place it somewhere new. A lifeform can only be resilient for so long until it becomes apathetic and cruel.
