drinks

I wish I could drink coffee
or maybe gin
something to buffer my brain
from its reality
or delusions
release the house-
fly
from the spiderweb
startle the deer
which flees
the duck
which flies
toward the blind

instead I drown in water
which flows through
leaves me desiccated
